Consider This: Mass. lawmakers consider expanding definition of domestic abuse to include financial and mental abuse

When people think of domestic violence, they usually picture physical attacks like a punch or a shove. But advocates say other kinds of abuse — such as imposed isolation from friends, control over money or constant surveillance — are just as harmful.

Now, state lawmakers are considering a batch of bills that would allow victims of verbal, psychological and technological abuse to seek restraining orders against their tormentors.
