This Thanksgiving season, WBUR is teaming up with StoryCorps to encourage students to interview elders in their lives.

It's part of The Great Thanksgiving Listen project, which aims to bring families and communities closer. Think about what you could learn from an older person — a family member, a neighbor, a friend — if you just set aside the time to ask questions and listen.

All you need is a smartphone and a quiet space. You can also find a teacher toolkit and instructions on how to use the StoryCorps app on their website.

The interviews will become part of  the StoryCorps Archive at the American Folklife Center at the Library of Congress.
