Each year, the Boston Foundation presents the Boston EdTalks, a celebration during Teacher Appreciation Week to showcase the innovative work of teachers in Boston area schools through a series of presentations. The goal of the Boston EdTalks is to celebrate great educators and give them a platform from which to share their innovative ideas, classroom practices and solutions to challenges they face in their schools.
Presenters propose an idea they are passionate about and are selected via a rigorous process by a panel of peer teachers. Topics range from a focus on awesome teaching practices, such as how to teach engineering to elementary students or how to incorporate #blacklivesmatter into middle school curriculum, to the bigger picture issues, like getting more teachers of color to stay in the classroom, why teacher salaries matter or what it’s like to be a founding member of a new charter school.
