Securing Pakistan's Nuclear Materials

The U.S. and Pakistan are negotiating behind the scenes for a greater American role in helping secure Pakistan's nuclear materials. The talks represent a potential breakthrough, as Pakistan has severely limited U.S. access to its nuclear program until now. We'll speak with Bryan Bender, National Security Correspondent for the Boston Globe.

The Road Ahead in Afghanistan and Pakistan

As the leaders of Afghanistan and Pakistan head to Washington this week to meet with President Obama, we speak with military analyst Andrew Bacevich about U-S strategy in the region. Bacevich is professor of history and international relations at Boston University. His latest book, "The Limits of Power: The End of American Exceptionalism," is just out in paperback.

A new report in the Journal Proceedings of the Royal Society shows that an Amazonian ant species is reproducing through asexual cloning and has completely done away with males. We speak with lead researcher Anna Himler, a biologist from the University of Arizona.

Underwater Robot Undertakes Atlantic Mission

An underwater robot called RU-27 is crossing the Atlantic Ocean right now — on its way to Spain. The Rutgers University project will gather data that may help explain oceanographic trends, including the interaction between climate change and ocean temperatures. We talk with Ari Daniel Shapiro, who has been following the story for Spectrum Radio, the broadcast edition of IEEE Spectrum Magazine.

Allegra Huston

Allegra Huston grew up among film royalty: her father was director John Huston, and her sister is actress Anjelica Huston. But much of her childhood was spent in isolation and confusion: after the death of her mother when she was four, Allegra was shuttled from place to place and at the age of twelve discovered that Huston was not her biological father. Allegra Huston tells the story in a new book "Love Child": A Memoir of Family Lost then Found".
