Afghanistan will be the key topic as NATO leaders begin a two-day summit today in Portugal. President Barack Obama is certain to be quizzed about the U.S. exit strategy, which includes an effort to persuade thousands of Taliban fighters to lay down their arms. The BBC's Paul Wood visited a U.S.  detention center in Parwan Province to take a look at a program aimed at persuading the Taliban to switch sides.

This segment aired on November 19, 2010.
