A historic winter storm dropped snow and ice across much of the country, with the nation's midsection taking the brunt of the storm.

In Chicago, Lake Shore Drive has been closed since Tuesday night, cars have been abandoned, and the public schools have been closed for the first time in 12 years. We get an update from Linda Lutton, reporter for the public radio station WBEZ in Chicago.
