According to a new Gallup poll, 48% of Americans support public employee unions while 39% support the efforts to curb unions by governors in a handful of states. More than a dozen states are considering laws to curb the rights of public employee unions, following the lead of Wisconsin and Ohio, where laws were just passed to sharply limit public union rights.

New York Times labor reporter Steve Greenhouse joins us for an update on the union battles and a look at where they're going next.  Greenhouse is author of "The Big Squeeze: Tough Times for the American Worker."

This segment aired on April 4, 2011.
