The University of Connecticut men's basketball team won the national championship this year, but it's also one of a handful of dominant basketball and football programs to receive NCAA penalties this week for poor academic performance.

The NCAA penalties will cut Huskies coach Jim Calhoun's bonus, the team will also lose scholarships and some of the other teams penalized will be banned from post-season play.

We speak with Libby Sander, who is covering the story for The Chronicle of Higher Education.

This segment aired on May 26, 2011.
