The successful hunt for Osama bin Laden turned national attention to new surveillance technologies, from a laser beam that detects vibrations from a conversation inside a building to surveillance tags that can track terrorists.

Our guest Noah Shachtman tells us about some of the new technology, including the work of Virginia-based Blackbird technology, which has become a leader in the field.  Shachtman is contributing editor at Wired Magazine, where he also edits the national security blog, "Danger Room."
