All Eyes On Fed Amid Market Jitters

After one of the worst days in stock market history, nervous investors are looking for reassurance from the U.S. Federal Reserve Bank. The Fed's policy-making board is meeting today and economists say the recent spate of bad financial numbers and yesterday's sharp drop in the markets puts pressure on the bank to take steps to boost the economy.

With congress and the White House deadlocked, it may be the only game in town. But with interest rates already at historic lows, the Fed has a dwindling number of tools left.
