Republicans like John McCain and Mitt Romney are being asked by voters,why not raise taxes?

Romney is also being asked about documents that  reveal that while governor of Massachusetts he closed tax loopholes, effectively raising revenue, and raised fees.

Politico obtained documents showing that in 2004, the Romney administration lobbied the credit rating agency Standard and Poor’s for a higher rating for the state, based in part on the revenue raising.
