There are new worries today that a bridge linking Louisville, Kentucky and New Albany, Indiana could collapse. The Sherman Minton bridge, which spans the Ohio river, has been closed since last week after cracks were found on load bearing steel beams.

More than 80,000 vehicles use the bridge everyday, and work on the bridge is creating a major transportation nightmare for the region. As engineers continue investigating the cracks, economists and civic leaders are tallying up the hit to the region's economy.
