Dayton, Ohio wants to lay out a welcome mat for immigrants.

Last week, the City Commission voted unanimously to pass a plan that's designed to attract immigrant-run businesses and bolster the economy in Dayton.

Dayton Mayor Gary Leitzell told Here & Now's Robin Young that the city sees potential in the plan.

"Here in Dayton, we're low on the totem pole and we have a lot of room for growth, and that's what we're doing," he said. "We want to open the doors to say we want to grow our international population so that we can create a more diverse, thriving city."

Guest:

  • Gary Leitzell, Mayor of Dayton, Ohio
