Some Democrats have questioned the size of the package, while Republicans have said they will block passage because the bill increases taxes on people making over a million dollars a year.

Republican presidential candidates are headed to New Hampshire for a debate Tuesday and some observers say it could be a do-or-die moment for Rick Perry, who tied for 4th place in a straw poll this weekend.

In the background is the growing Occupy Wall Street protest, and new numbers showing that Americans' incomes continued to fall sharply even after the official recession ended.
