2011 was a momentous year in the Middle East, as decades old regimes fell like dominoes in Tunisia, Egypt, and Libya.

But what happens 20 years after uprisings like those? Some clues can be found in northern Iraq. 20 years ago, the Kurds managed to get rid of Saddam Hussein's authority. But last year they were back on the streets protesting against their new political masters.

This segment aired on January 12, 2012.
