Both former Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney and President Barack Obama are focusing on Ohio as one of the key states where they're trying to win over increasingly scarce swing voters.

Thursday, Romney speaks at a factory in Lorain, Ohio which closed shortly after President Obama visited it on the campaign trail in 2008.

In Lorain Wednesday, Obama alluded to Romney when he told people at a community college that he "wasn't born with a silver spoon in his mouth."

Rick Klein, senior Washington editor for ABC News, says both candidates are cherry-picking aspects of the biography to try to appeal to white voters that they're both struggling to attract.

Also in the ether: pro-Romney rock singer Ted Nugent meets with the Secret Service Thursday over comments he's made that sound threatening to Obama, and Republicans push back on stories about Mitt Romney's treatment of his dog Seamus with stories about how Obama once ate dog as a child in Indonesia.

  • Rick Klein, senior Washington editor for ABC News
