Md. Passes Bill Banning Social Media Password Requests By Employers
ResumeFacebook is applauding a pending law in Maryland that would prohibit employers from asking prospective or current employees to hand over their login information for social media sites.
Maryland's legislature approved the law earlier this month, it's awaiting the governor's signature.
Meanwhile, lawmakers in Michigan, Illinois and California are considering the same thing.
But the Maryland Chamber of Commerce is among opponents of the law, they say social media postings can help weed out bad job applicants.
