Major League Baseball holds its annual All-Star game Tuesday night in Kansas City. It's the mid-point of a season that's seen some surprises: The perennially cellar-dwelling Pittsburgh Pirates and Washington Nationals are leading their respective divisions, and there has been disappointment for fans in Philadelphia and Boston. Both teams are struggling and in last place.

Meanwhile the New York Yankees, despite losing two top pitchers to injuries, are running away with their division, The L.A. Angels of Anaheim are playing up to their potential after a dismal start and the L.A. Dodgers and San Francisco Giants are once again battling it out for the top spot in the National League West.

Guest:

  • Joel Sherman, reporter for the New York Post
