Students at Manual High in Denver are three weeks into their academic year. The school’s principal Brian Dale explains how the school has done this – and how students and teachers are onboard. The program features "experiential learning" – courses are integrated with off-campus learning and social justice is a major part of the curriculum.

Part of the goal is to teach kids about inequality so they can do something about it once they graduate.

Dale says the student body is overwhelmingly minority; most can get free or reduced lunch. He says the school’s aim is to "get smart to do good."
