The FBI in Milwaukee is now saying that the temple shooting suspect, Wade Michael Page, died when he shot himself in the head after being wounded by police on Sunday.

Officials have confirmed that they are investigating Page's link to white supremacist groups as a possible motive.

The FBI Special Agent In Charge Of Milwaukee, Teresa Carlson, told reporters that the FBI is constrained by how much monitoring they can do of extremists.

"This is an issue where law enforcement has to continually balance civil liberties, the rights that every U.S. citizen has to think what they want, believe what they want and say what they want. Obviously we cannot investigate people for any of those things. So no matter how horrendous or reprehensible those things might be, until somebody threatens, or there's a threat of violence, we cannot open an investigation on them," says special agent Carlson.
