All eyes have been on the presidential race the past two weeks as the national party conventions dominated prime-time political coverage.

But this election cycle, Republicans also dearly want to win control of the U.S. Senate, where the Democrats now hold a slim majority. And this November, the Senate's political balance could be decided by just a few crucial races.
