Shadows Hang Over The Final Four?
ResumeMarch Madness is the showcase event for the NCAA but as the Final Four is being held this weekend in Atlanta off-court issues are grabbing the headlines.
Rutgers fired coach Mike Rice this week following that video that showed him throwing balls at his players and using homosexual slurs against them. NCAA President Mark Emmert has been forced to respond to new questions about a scandal involving a booster at the University of Miami. The problems have some college athletic officials wondering if they should even stay in the NCAA.
Meanwhile on the court, the semifinals in the men's tournament will be played in Atlanta. Louisville, the pre-tourney favorite, plays Wichita State one of the games. The other match up is Syracuse against Michigan. The winners will play for the championship Monday.
The women's Final Four semifinals are Sunday in New Orleans. Louisville's women's team also made the cut and will play California in one of those games. Top-seeded Connecticut plays Notre Dame in the other. The women's title contest is Tuesday night.
