Somalia's president opened up an international conference Tuesday in London by asking donors for support and money as the country tries to recover from decades of war.

With the help of the African Union Mission in Somalia or AMISOM, the Islamic militant group al-Shabab has been defeated. The BBC's Andrew Harding has been with an AMISOM convoy to visit Afgoye, a small town which used to be controlled by al-Shabab militants.

This segment aired on May 7, 2013.
