President Barack Obama has pledged a new effort to close the detention center at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba. Many of the inmates there are on a hunger strike.

In Britain, human rights activists are also campaigning to close the prison and release the last British resident being held there. His name is Shaker Aamer.

The BBC's Farhana Dawood reports on his case.
