Why America Is Drinking Less Beer

Derek Thompson recently wrote for the Atlantic about the decline of the beer drinker.

According to Gallup's new alcoholic preferences survey, the steepest decline in beer drinkers has occurred among young people and non-white drinkers.

“In other words,” Thompson writes, “the fastest-growing segments of the country are also running the fastest away from brews.”

Why are people drinking less beer, and what are they drinking instead?
