Workforce Numbers Are At Lowest Level Since 1978

Employers added 169,000 jobs in August according to a report released Friday by the United States Department of Labor.

Unemployment levels fell slightly to 7.3 percent, but mainly because fewer people are working. Americans who are either looking for work or actually working has fallen to its lowest levels since 1978.

Yet despite the sequester, government employers added workers in August while industries like information technology lost jobs.
