A special election to fill the open seat of former Democratic U.S. Sen. Frank Lautenberg who died in June, takes place tomorrow.

Cory Booker, Newark's mayor and a national Democratic rising star, is the front-runner in the race.

His opponent, Republican Steve Lonegan, is not as far behind in the polls as predicted, and is hoping to take the long-time Democratic seat.
