It's a big week for the press in Britain. Jury selection begins today in the trial of ex-News of The World journalists for alleged phone hacking at the Rupert Murdoch-owned newspaper. The trial centers around claims that journalists intercepted the messages of public figures.

Less dramatically, but perhaps more important in the long term, senior British politicians meet Wednesday to approve a new system of regulation for the newspaper industry in the wake of the hacking controversy.

The BBC's UK political correspondent Rob Watson reports.
