In the 25 years that the Grammy-winning vocal group New York Voices has been making music, they've never released a Christmas album.

As founding member Darmon Meader tells Here & Now's Jeremy Hobson, "I think we tended to shy away from it because we sometimes get inundated at the holidays and kind of just get tired of it."

But this year, they've released their first holiday album, "Let it Snow," which incorporates both traditional carols like "Silent Night" as well as "Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas" and other songs from the American songbook.

Guest

  • Darmon Meader, New York Voices musical director. He also plays saxophone and sings in the group.

This segment aired on December 16, 2013.
