Christmas is a big day at the movies, but this past year has shown the rules for making movies — and television — are rapidly changing.

Hollywood executives are catering to international markets where high-grossing action films are big.

Meanwhile in television, gone are the days of appointment television. With the popularity of streaming media and content producers like Netflix, the new phenomenon of "binge-viewing" has emerged.

David Cohen, senior features editor at Variety, joins Here & Now's Jeremy Hobson to discuss changing business practices in Hollywood this past year, and what they might mean for the future.

This segment aired on December 25, 2013.
