The new years brings a big decision for the people of Scotland. They will vote on whether Scotland should be an independent country, ending 300 years as part of the United Kingdom.

Among those voting on that referendum will be 16- and 17-year-olds, who will be able to cast ballots for the first time.

The BBC's Dave Howard reports on how some of these young people are looking at the Scottish bid for independence.
