New reports today reveal that up to 100,000 computers around the world have been implanted with software that allows the National Security Agency to conduct covert computer surveillance.

Unlike previous computer implants, these spy tools use secret technology that can infiltrate computers and alter data even on machines not connected to the internet.

The information, reported in today's New York Times, was detailed in documents released by NSA leaker Edward Snowden, and confirmed by U.S. officials. The technology has been used since 2008.

New York Times correspondent David Sanger joins Here & Now's Robin Young to discuss the revelations.
