If you turned on the radio at all last summer, chances are you probably heard the Robin Thicke’s “Blurred Lines” – the somewhat controversial summer hit of 2013.

What you might not know though is that that song was recently nominated for an NAACP Image Award.

In addition to Thicke, this year many white performers and performances were among the nominees. That has led some, including NPR TV critic Eric Deggans, to ask: should the NAACP image awards only go to African-Americans?

He joins Here & Now's Meghna Chakrabarti to discuss the answer.
