Themes Emerge In State Of The State Addresses
PlayOn Tuesday, President Obama will deliver his fifth State of the Union Address from the Capitol. But today, we will be taking a look at three State of the State Addresses made by governors this month, for a snapshot of what's going on around the nation:
- Missouri Gov. Jay Nixon (see address transcript)
- California Gov. Jerry Brown (see address transcript)
- Idaho Gov. C.L. "Butch" Otter (see address transcript)
The overarching themes of all of the speeches are education, pensions and budget sustainability, and Medicaid and the Affordable Care Act.
Here & Now's Jeremy Hobson and Sacha Pfeiffer are joined by Scott Graf of Boise State Public Radio, Marshall Griffin with St. Louis Public Radio, and Scott Detrow of Northern California's KQED, to discuss the State of the State Addresses in their states.
