Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan is celebrating his party's victory in local elections yesterday.

The win comes despite months of problems for Erdogan, including a corruption scandal and his bans on Twitter and YouTube.

The country Erdogan is shaping bears little resemble to the vision of Turkey's founder, Mustafa Atatürk. Who was he and what kind of Turkey did he try to build?
