It's a secret ballot and the results probably won't come out today, but the football players at Northwestern University in Illinois are making history today. They are the first college athletes to vote on whether they should be represented by a union.

Northwestern University is appealing the February ruling by the National Labor Relation board's Chicago office to allow the vote. According to the Chicago Tribune, the player's ballots will remain secret until the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) makes a decision on the appeal.

Sports analyst Mike Pesca discusses what a players' union would mean for the Big Ten school, and who's for and against it with Here & Now's Jeremy Hobson.
