Narendra Modi tweeted "India has won. Good times ahead," after early results showed his opposition party winning the elections in India.

Modi's Hindu nationalist Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) captured a commanding lead for hundreds of seats in the lower house of Parliament, and should have the majority needed to create a government without forming a coalition with smaller parties.

It's being described as the most resounding victory by any party in India for 30 years. BJP trounced India's historic party of government, the Congress party.

The BBC's Rahul Tandon joins Here & Now's Sacha Pfeiffer from Kolkata (or Calcutta as many still call it), to discuss the election results.
