A new study on the state of the Internet by Mary Meeker shows that, overall, people are spending more time on their mobile devices, but ad spending does not reflect this trend.

Despite the fact that millions of people are glued to their smartphones, ad agencies continue to pump dollars into running commercials on television. Only 4 percent of advertising spending goes to mobile, while 45 percent goes towards television.

The study also takes a look at the business of mobile apps and how people around the world are consuming media.

Derek Thompson, senior editor at The Atlantic, joins Here & Now's Robin Young to talk about some of the highlights from the study.
