E.U. Foreign Ministers Pressure Russia On Ukraine
ResumeSeveral European foreign ministers are threatening more sanctions against Russia if it fails to cooperate with Ukraine's proposed peace plan with pro-Russian separatists in Eastern Ukraine. The foreign ministers say armed militants and tanks continue to cross the border into that part of Ukraine.
Today's threat follows a statement over the weekend by Russia President Vladimir Putin expressing support for the ceasefire. Ukraine's new president Petro Poroshenko laid out the ceasefire plan on Friday but also said he had a "plan B" if the separatists don't follow it.
