Google Developers Conference Preview: Thermostats, TVs, Car Screens

Only three weeks after Apple's developer conference, which hosted thousands of software programmers, Google is looking towards its own developers conference in San Francisco, which opens on Wednesday.

It's expected to focus on new outlets for its software, including thermostats, cars and watches, as well as its more signature products, including phones, browser tools and tablets.

Conferences like this one, dubbed Google I/O, are critical for massive companies like Google, which rely on creative developers to create the apps that run on their operating systems.
