Two Major Rulings From The Supreme Court Today
ResumeThe U.S. Supreme Court court ruled today against the Obama administration, saying President Obama's 2012 appointments to the National Labor Relations Board were illegal. Justices confirmed the president's right to make recess appointments but said these particular ones were invalid because the Senate was not actually in recess.
In another key ruling, the justices said a Massachusetts law that establishes a 35-foot protest-free buffer zone around abortion clinics violates protester's First Amendment rights. This ruling was unanimous.
NPR's Washington Editor Ron Elving joins Here & Now's Robin Young to discuss the implications of these rulings.
