A political newcomer has defeated 11-term Congressman Jack Kingston to win the runoff for Georgia's Republican U.S. Senate nomination.

Businessman David Perdue spent more than $3 million of his own money to paint Kingston as a career politician without solutions.

Perdue, a former CEO, will face Democrat Michelle Nunn in November.

The race will help determine which party controls the Senate.

This segment aired on July 23, 2014.
