Macy's To Pay $650,000 In Racial Profiling Investigation

Macy's will pay $650,000 dollars to settle allegations of racial profiling at its flagship department store in Herald Square in Manhattan. The chain will also bring in an independent monitor, and institute new policies aimed at reducing racial profiling at its New York stores.

The Macy's settlement comes just a week after Barneys New York agreed to pay $525,000 to resolve a similar lawsuit, which found that it disproportionately followed and detained black and Hispanic customers suspected of shoplifting.
