Syria's foreign minister says the U.S. should not conduct airstrikes inside Syria without consulting the Syrian government.

The Obama administration is considering the airstrikes after the Islamic State beheaded American journalist James Foley in a video released last week. Foley was captured in Syria in 2012.

International relations professor and retired Army colonel Andrew Bacevich joins Here & Now's Robin Young to discuss what the U.S. military strategy be now, as President Obama had already authorized airstrikes against the Islamic State inside Iraq.
