How Long Will Obama Delay Immigration Reform?
ResumeIn June, President Obama promised to take executive action on immigration reform by the end of the summer. Yesterday, his press secretary said the president may or may not act soon.
Vulnerable Democrats up for reelection this November hope Obama won't act anytime soon, because if they lose, their party could lose control of the Senate.
But Democratic U.S. Rep. Luis Gutierrez of Illinois says the time for immigration reform is now, and that for too long lawmakers on both sides of the aisle have been letting politics trump good policy.
