A South African judge has ruled that Olympic athlete Oscar Pistorius is guilty of "culpable homicide," in the shooting of his girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp.

The verdict "culpable homicide," is the South African equivalent of manslaughter. Pistorius faces up to 14 years in prison.

The basic facts of the case were never in doubt: Pistorius admitted to fatally shooting Steenkamp in his home in February of 2013. He says he thought she was an intruder.

The prosecution had contended that Pistorius meant to kill Steenkamp, but the judge rejected that argument, saying she found Pistorius' version of events more plausible.

Here & Now's Sacha Pfeiffer speaks to the BBC's Mike Wooldridge about the potential outcomes for Pistorius.
