Alabama's two U.S. senators are now calling for U.S. District Judge Mark Fuller to step down, after his arrest last month on charges of beating his wife.

Federal judges are appointed for life, though the court system could recommend impeachment.

Under a plea deal, Fuller agreed to counseling and treatment and may see the charges against him disappear.

His case takes on added relevance as the NFL struggles with its response to domestic violence by football players.

Mary Orndorff Toryan, a reporter for the Montgomery Advertiser who has been following the story, joins Here & Now's Robin Young to discuss the potential outcomes in Fuller's case.
