This article is more than 6 years old.

Alaska's Aleutian Islands were spared the brunt of the remnants of Typhoon Nuri, but now extreme cold weather is headed to the lower 48 states.

Temperatures may dip 20 to 40 degrees below average. The storm has already dumped more than 3 inches in North Dakota.

Mike Seidel of The Weather Channel joins Here & Now's Sacha Pfeiffer to take a look at what's in store for the country, and what it might mean for the winter ahead.

This segment aired on November 10, 2014.
