UN Climate Talks To Lay Groundwork For International Treaty

Nearly 200 delegates are meeting at the 12-day United Nations Climate Change Conference in Lima, Peru. They'll aim to hammer out a new climate treaty to be adopted in Paris at the end of 2015.

William Moomaw is professor emeritus of international environmental policy at Tufts University and the lead author of five climate reports. He tells Here & Now's Lisa Mullins that the emission reduction commitments announced by China and the U.S. just weeks before the meeting are a promising start that a new deal may be achieved.
