The News In Social Media: From 'Black Brunch' To A Teen Suicide
PlayOn Mondays we look at how the news has reverberated over the weekend. Julia Turner, editor-in-chief of Slate, joins Here & Now's Robin Young this week to talk about demonstrations at brunch spots yesterday against police brutality, which used the hashtag #blackbrunch.
Turner also discusses the suicide of transgender teen Leelah Alcorn of Kings Mill, Ohio, who posted an online letter blaming her parents for not letting her transition from male to female. Turner is also following the Consumer Electronics Show and the trial of accused Boston bomber Dzhokhar Tsarnaev.
